The immoral use of the authority given to a person or the use of such powers for personal gain at the expense of those being governed is what is referred to as political corruption. The acts of individuals, who are regular citizens and do not hold any official positions in the administration, cannot be said to be political corruption. In simple words, such acts are only performed by individuals who hold power in the process of going about their formal tasks.
Whether or not an act constitutes a political evil depends on the country or municipality in which such deeds take place. It therefore follows that it is the laws and regulations of a country that determine whether or not an evil is political or otherwise. Two jurisdictions could therefore judge an act differently. What remains given is the fact that acts of such nature, whether civil or political are not justified irrespective of legal structure.
Immoral acts by leaders of a country bring about many negative effects. For instance, foreign investors are put off by the presence of such negative factors. Political stability is one of the major factors considered by firms that want to invest beyond the borders of their home country. Additionally poor leadership also puts off local businesses that could otherwise boost the economy.
The evil deeds of those in power impact adversely on the economy of a country. For instance, the people in senior administration may embezzle funds that could have been used to achieve development of the country. Dishonesty is common in many nations and is the fundamental reason for the poverty in third world nations. Human rights activists have been championing for fairness in administrations in vain.
The international criminal court based at The Hague in the Netherlands has handled many cases against humanity. All these crimes are associated with election corruption that brought about such cases as murder, rape, vandalism and displacement of people. The wrongful use of power to steal from the innocent countrymen is among the most serious crimes.
The impacts of public malpractices extend to the physical environment. It is rather apparent that leaders and powerful rulers are fond of embezzling funds meant for the preservation and maintenance of the environment. Agricultural resources get wasted and the people are left wallowing in immense poverty.
It is common knowledge that all regions of a country cannot be equally developed. It is however fair that there be stricken some degree of balance between the regions of the country. In reality though, some regions are more developed than the others. The difference is significant. This is not right before the law and the principles of natural justice. It is socially and legally immoral.
Among those practices that should be discouraged with utmost seriousness in the public domain is political corruption. It is a demerit to economic development as well as a hindrance to the attainment of sovereignty. The wish of the citizen at the grassroots is that there be peace and prosperity. Public wrongs are deterrents to quality life.
