Karan Johar has been grabbing news headlines and a chunk of the spotlight recently with his fifth directorial venture titled Student of the Year just around the corner. This will be his first movie without Bollywood bigwig Shah Rukh Khan. All of Karan Johar's previous films including Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham (2001), Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (2006) and My Name Is Khan (2010) have had the superstar. Instead, Student of the Year will star three newcomers in the lead including Siddharth Malhotra, Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt. Most movie buffs might've sniffed out the Student of the Year plot by now.
Besides the previously launched tracks including "The Disco Song", "Vele", "Ratta Maar" and "Radha", the Student of the Year soundtrack also includes a slower and more romantic number titled "Ishq Wala Love". The song is set apart from the rest and includes vocals by Shekhar Ravjiani, Salim Merchant, Neeti Mohan. The track has been well-received right since its release on the online video-database YouTube crossing the 1 million mark a while ago.
With an overwhelming response on webspace, "Ishq Wala Love" is quickly turning into one of the most popular tracks included in the Student of the Year soundtrack. The video includes romantic instances from the film featuring the leading trio, Siddharth Malhotra, Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt. "Ishq Wala Love" uses fantastical and snowy scenery for a backdrop that beautifully complements this romantic and soothing number.
Contrary to rumors that have been scattering around recently, Siddharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan happen to be good friends. The two have worked together as Assistant Directors for the film My Name Is Khan, directed by Karan Johar, and were together mentored by the veteran director. While Siddharth Malhotra is a model-turned-actor, Varun Dhawan is the son of the director David Dhawan. Also, Siddharth and Varun will be seen on the big-screen for the first time together with co-star Alia Bhatt.
In Karan Johar's upcoming film Student of the Year, Siddharth Malhotra will play the role of Abhimanyu Singh aka Abhi, a student from a middle-class family who enrolls at a prestigious school in Dehradun and pushes his way through, eager to win the Student of the Year Trophy. Student of the Year will hit cinema screens on the 19th of October and is produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions and Shah Rukh Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment.
